I have just attended the meeting in in our association European region. On the first day I was asked to present an intensive 1 day course about basic information for shipping pets – it is intended for people new to the industry, for employees, or for those who want to brush up on their skills. We had about 3o people in attendance for the day. We also had a speaker form the European Union Commission, to clarify the new rules as they apply to pet entry into the EU.
On the second day the EU members have had speakers and continuing education, as well as lively discussion of the problems of the pet shipping industry faced locally in the region.
I have come away with some new friends and contact information for new colleagues, as well as renewing old friendships. This is one thing great within the pet transportation travel industry – it is small and we mostly know each other, which means when I am moving your pet, I have contacts around the world I know and trust.
And by Monday, I will be back at my Airborne Animals LLC desk doing business, but also will continue as the chairman of the IPATA Education Committee to work on the education programs and speakers for the international conference this fall in Rome, Italy.
